Weekend Recap: Dead Wife are the best. We love touring with them. When we got to Halifax the club owner wouldn't except Shub's 2 valid I.Ds so he took him out back to check his Facebook account before letting him stay to play the gig. I broke Raf's bass which I was borrowing during the very 1st song. The pick guard shattered. Which hopefully isn't too expensive to replace. Then during the last song we played our borrowed bass amp exploded (sorry Derrick!) and the guitar amp blew ( it works again!).

Day 2= Hangovers. A house party with w/ Dead Wife, Meat Curtains, ECT, Fuck Montreal (again this is the band's name - they hate our homeland). During the set we were silly stringed, the lights broke, I got hit so hard in the face with the mic that my eye turned red and blue and started pussing, eventually it got so violent that all of our stuff got knocked over and disconnected between every two riffs. We literally had to stop 6 times. We decided to try a really laid back Ronettes style song that we had never played live and only jammed once to chill people out. It turned out well and I just laid down and we jammed it forever as payback for all the violence. After the set the cops came by with nobody left in the place and no loud music they decided to turn their venom on us instead. I guess someone from the party had left a beer can on the roof of our van and they made Raf (who was completely sober) lay on the curb and touch his toes and say the alphabet backwards, follow a pen etc etc. They forced all of the band members from both bands to stay in the car. That was just the rush we needed to get the fuck out of Halifax. And we hit the road back to Montreal at 1am and drove all night.

It looks like we'll be taking most of August to record and probably won't be playing live next month. So check it out. We've been working on a new set. It's 35 minutes instead of 15 and includes a cover.

VICE Grand Trine en francais

Okay we did an interivew with Vice Quebec a few weeks ago and they just posted it online. It's translated from English to French so it's hard to gauge if we sound like assholes or not.

We are headed to Toronto in the next few days (I'm going up early to use my pass and catch Black Lips/Tyvek/party) we are playing Friday night @ The Silver Dollar w/ These Are Powers (one of the dudes who used to be in Liars band from Brooklyn). It's a pop montreal showcase thing. Come see my new un-rock and roll haircut.



We're getting evicted from our dream home/jamspace/studio at the end of the month! It was a good run and we'll miss this place. We couldn't find a suitable alternative HQ so are all going our separate ways and will just rent a room like a normal band. No more mc5/White Panther Party style commune fantasy lives. Thus marks the end of Grand Trine phase #1. It was a good solid first year of being a 24hr band. Our psychic link should remain intact even if we can't be roommates anymore.

Other news is that we are working on two new vinyl releases that will come out next. The first is part of the "World is Lousy With Ideas" series (Vol 8.5) which will be a split with Pink Noise and Celine on the Brooklyn label Almost Ready Records. Followed directly but a 12" e.p on one of the best Canadian labels going DIVORCE RECORDS.

After the NO MEANS NO show at the end of the month the next show in Montreal will be July 25th w/ Lovvers (United Kingdom) and Dead Wife (who I just saw destroy it opening for Mika Miko at Sala).

It's my birthday today, I will celebrate by going to see DEAD WIFE @ Squalor House in St. Henri. Tomorrow we are playing at DIVAN ORANGE w/ Slim Twig, Creeping Nobodies, Red Mass. We are play at 9:45pm and our set will be on the floor!
